All WastePacks fanny packs/waist packs are made from reclaimed material from outdoor gear that was no longer functional, hence "WastePacks"
I worked in the outdoor industry for upwards of 6 years, long enough to see a glimpse into the waste produced. Even that glimpse seems massive. I want to take gear that has lived its life and served its function for as long as it could and continue its life. Sleeping pads determined to leak air may never be patched well enough, but that sleeping pad contains a whole lot of material that could be used to make something that doesn't need to hold air tightly.
Tents and sleeping pads have been my biggest source of materials thus far and they're very different materials. The tent material is thinner and much more flexible. Sleeping pad material is thicker and holds its shape well. Tent material makes much more packable fanny packs.
The first dozen or so fanny packs I made have a predetermined waist strap length. I did this while I was perfecting sewing together the pattern. I can make them shorter but unfortunately can't extend them. These are noted by a waist strap length in the listing title and within the listing description itself.
Every fanny pack made after those first dozen won't have the back panel and waist strap sewn onto the pack until it's purchased and the waist strap length is indicated by the person who buys it. This will allow for anybody of any size to purchase a fanny pack that fits their body and their needs. These are noted by "any waist length" in the listing title and within the listing description as well.
If there's anything that would make a pack more accessible and adaptive to you and your needs, reach out to me via the "contact" page and we can work on something together. Maybe that's Velcro instead of zippers or longer zipper pull tabs. Let's make something great together.
